Meeting Minutes

Good Day Everyone,

What is the most precious thing in your life? Is it wealth, health, family or time? The theme of our meeting today is “Treasure Hunt” with Word of the Day “Precious”. We have a special meeting with precious lesson. Besides speeches and evaluation sessions, we also have a debate training workshop.

The club president, Azizah British, opened the meeting at 10.00 KST as usual. Kudos to our president who wears many hats today: as General evaluator, grammarian and speech evaluator. The theme of the day was explained by Mabel, an enthusiastic Toastmasters member from Myanmar. She is taking up the challenge today to take on a role as Toastmasters of the Day in this club.

In prepare speech sessions, we have two speakers. The first speaker, Fikui shared her story when she overcame life's challenge. How important it is to be grateful and appreciate the simple things in life, especially our health. Because we never know what we have until it's gone. The second speaker, Adarsh, shared his story and reminded us to be careful and mindful of information we share in the online world and especially in social media.

Both speakers gave informative and inspiring speeches. Fikui was evaluated by Azizah. And Adarsh was evaluated by Lim Ah Nee. They gave insightful and comprehensive feedback to the speakers.

Today the general evaluation teams are presenting their report earlier to give more time and attention to the last sessions. In the general evaluation teams we have Azizah as grammarian, Heru as a timer, Dian as ah counter and Boram as ballot counter.

In the last session, we have debate training workshop led by Noor Mohammad, DTM as Debate Master. This is the most anticipated session by all guests and members.

After giving his presentation on debate, our debate master divided us into two teams. The affirmative team and the negative teams. The affirmative teams are Azizah, Yusuf chandra, DTM and Mabel. The negative teams are Boram, Dian and Loida.

We debate about “Does social media improve communication”. It was a lit session, full of engagement with a lively debate and exchange of experiences from different perspectives.

We have great meeting today with 13 attendees. There were 5 TSL members, 2 prepare speech speakers, 2 speech evaluators and 1 debate master with 6 participants in the debate workshop.

Thank you to all the members, role takers and guests who attended and participated in today's meeting. We still have a special meeting next week to wrap up this month with the theme 'Be a Winner'.
