Hello Everyone,
We had a fun, interactive, and inspiring moment at our last Saturday meeting. We learned about different types of lifestyle and culture stories, such as minimalism, ikigai, food, sports, family, pets, etc.
The meeting was led by our secretary and Toastmasters of The Day, Dian. Before we started the main session, we were given a short educational speech on "Tips for Delivering a Good Speech" by our President, Azizah British.
These 6 tips are: Keep it simple, be clear and concise. Engage with your audience, practice more, be confident, and have conviction. The last one ends with a strong note.
The first session was led by Adam as Table Topic Master. Adam had prepared unique pictures and questions. It was a challenge for all table topic speakers as they had to give the opposite answer and not the right answer. We have 6 participants: they are Yusuf Chandra, DTM, Nikita Handoko, Hanny, Wilson, Bhavneet, and Noor Mohammad, DTM.
In the prepared speech session, we have one speaker. Nikita shared her story and life wisdom with her father as a mentor. Unhappiness comes when there is a gap between what we want and what we do. We learned something about “have you, can you” attitude in her speech, as it encourages us to be more proactive. Nikita was evaluated by Bhavneet.
In the last session, we received a constructive report from the general evaluator, Hanny, and her team. The GE teams today are Sanusi as a grammarian, Azizah as ah-counter, Wilson as a timer, and Boram as a ballot counter.
While waiting for the Hall of Fame, we enjoyed Boram's BTC (behind the culture) speech on “Korean Food: Ssam, Bibimbap and Japchae". It was a fun and joyful session. All the guests and members looked so curious and excited about the food and the cultural aspect behind it.
BTC (behind the culture) is our new club program where our members will give a different speech each week about an aspect of their culture.
Congratulations to all the winners:
Best speaker: Nikita Handoko
Best evaluator: Bhavneet
Best table topic speakers: Noor Mohammad, DTM
Best role players: Adam Chen
Today we have a total of 14 attendees. There were 5 TSL members, 1 prepared speech speaker, 1 educational speaker, 1 BTC (Behind the culture) speaker, 1 evaluator, and 6 table topic speakers.
Thank you everyone for attending, supporting, and sharing about your lifestyle and cultures in our meeting today.
Next week, we will have a special meeting with the theme "Movie".
See you at the next meeting. Cheers!
